One of the best things about reptiles is that the live long and amazing lives as long as you take care of them properly. Some reptile species can even live over 100 years! But These 5 reptiles don't, not even close! These five reptiles have an average lifespan of 5 years or less and although this may be sad for most of us, sometimes this is a great thing. Perhaps you are a young person who wants a pet that you don't have to take to college with you in a few years. Maybe you're elderly and worry about your health having a shorter lifespan than most reptiles. Well a great option in cases like these may be a Tricolor Hognose Snake. These amazing colubrids are actually rear fanged venomous but not to worry, this venom isn't dangerous to most humans. The pattern of these snakes is amazing and they only live about five years. If you're not a snake person maybe an anole would work better for you. Green anoles usually are better for viewing only rather than actually handling. The same can be said for another popular insectivore, long tailed lizards. Often called grass tailed lizards these amazing critters have a tail three times the length of their body! With a short lifespan and super fun to watch, this might be a great option for you. A super uncommon pet with a common name, the common house gecko. These invasive and super fast reptiles make amazing pets to look at and can even live in community tanks! But the grand daddy of them all, chameleons! Chameleons often live les than five years. This depends on species of course but overall chameleons are know for short natural life spans and boy, what a heart breaker these beautiful animals can be!
