Herpetology: study of reptiles and amphibians
Herping: looking for reptiles and amphibians in the wild (similar to birding)
Herper: someone who looks for reptiles and amphibians in the wild (similar to being a birder or a fisherman)
Lifer: the first time you find a certain species in the wild
Road cruising: looking for snakes on the road from your vehicle, typically within a couple hours of sunset
