Bloat (GDV) is the leading cause of death in large-breed dogs, but it’s preventable with the right measures! Here’s how to protect your dog:
✅ Preventative Tips:
- Feed smaller, more frequent meals instead of one large meal.
- Avoid excessive water consumption immediately after eating.
- Pre-moisten kibble or feed raw food to reduce thirst post-meal.
- After eating, limit activities like running, jumping, or rolling.
- Consider a gastropexy surgery to prevent the stomach from flipping in breeds prone to GDV, such as Great Danes.
If you suspect your dog has bloat, time is critical—get to the vet immediately! This condition is life-threatening.
