The House of Representatives has suspended Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga for 60 days after its Ethics Committee found him guilty of disorderly conduct.
The Ethics Committee recommended suspension without benefits of salaries and allowances with a stern warning that a repetition of similar conduct would result to a more severe disciplinary action.
The committee also directed Barzaga to remove certain social media posts within 24 hours.
The House plenary adopted the Ethics Committee's recommendation, with 249 affirmative votes, 5 negative, and 11 abstention.
The congressmen who voted against the panel's recommendation were representatives Leandro Leviste, Paolo Marcoleta, Eli San Fernando, Bong Suntay, and Robert Nazal.
