What do you do when a young, active Labrador has an injured paw pad and can't join the pack on adventures? You innovate.
At our Kentucky dog training campuses, real-world challenges require practical solutions. Buddy, a young Labrador, has an injured pad that can't bear weight or touch the ground due to the risk of bacterial or fungal infection. He needs to stay off his foot, but he also needs vital socialization and environmental exposure.
In this video, Stonnie Dennis breaks down the problem and our solution. While we often use ATVs for transport, they aren't the right fit for Buddy. They're noisy, vibrate heavily, and have distinct odors, which isn't ideal for a dog who hasn't been properly conditioned for them.
Our solution: a custom "carriage" built using an electric bike and trailer. The e-bike is quiet, smooth, and odor-free, making it the perfect, low-stress vehicle to get Buddy out and about safely.
