Meet Kalani.
A 19-month-old Malamute with a bite history that started at just 10 weeks old… and hasn’t stopped since.
Resource guarding. Owner-directed aggression. Multiple bites—including family members and close friends.
At 8 months, her owners were told to avoid triggers and rely on anxiety medication.
No hands-on work. No real plan to change the behavior.
But here’s where things take a turn…
On evaluation day, I recreate the situations that have caused Kalani to bite in the past—
and something unexpected happens.
👉 She doesn’t try to bite me.
So we dig deeper.
When we move outside, we finally see a glimpse of what’s really going on.
A reactive outburst at dogs behind a fence… followed by something most people don’t think is possible:
She shuts it off.
Not with treats.
Not by avoiding the problem.
But through clear communication and well-timed correction.
We wrap up by laying out a full training plan with her owners, Lisa & Bill…
and then comes the real test—
The crate.
She refuses.
Food doesn’t work.
Negotiation doesn’t work.
So I show them another way.
This is just the beginning.

Part 2 is where the real work begins.
If a dog has a bite history like this… do you avoid the triggers, or confront and change the behavior?
