In this 60 Second Dog Training Tips video, we discuss the dog's emotional state and how to keep your dog calm, as part of our dog training and obedience series. Most of us prefer to have our dogs calm, but the reality is that most dogs are usually in a perpetual state of excitement, causing them a great deal of unnecessary stress and anxiety. You have probably noticed that when our dogs get too excited, they tend to behave in a way that people dislike. Unfortunately, a dog's stress and anxiety is often mistaken as happiness and excitement. However, a dog with a calm demeanor is not disruptive, and does not engage in dangerous behavior. A great dog training tip involves creating a calm and relaxed mindset for your dog, and these habits begin in the home. Let’s summarize how to understand your dog's emotional state:
• The emotional state goes from 0 to 10
• 0 to 3 = the learning state, calm and receptive to information
• 3 to 7 = more focused on the stimuli around them, stop listening to you as much
• The further up, the less responsive they will be
• Once they hit 7, they are completely incoherent to any information they receive
• Our job is to understand our dog's state rising, and know what to do to bring it back down again so it's between 0 and 3 all of the time
• If you manage to do this, you will condition your dog to be in a calm state and responsive to information

*** PS: I NEED YOUR HELP ***
My goal is to better the lives of #onemilliondogs in my lifetime. It is clearly impossible for me to do this on a one to one basis. I have seen that with around every thousand views on my videos, I get a comment or email thanking me and letting me know the video has helped. So working on that basis, I have to make videos on how to address every problem
behaviour and accumulate ONE billion views in order to help 1,000,000 dogs.
You can help me reach #onemilliondogs by (1) subscribing to my channel and (2) give this video a thumbs up - so YouTube suggests this video to more dog owners and we can help 1,000,000 dogs all over the world. Thank you so much!
*** THANK YOU ***
