We reached out… and Snake Discovery actually sent us snakes 🐍
In today’s episode, we go through the entire process — from browsing and picking out our favorites, to setting up proper quarantine enclosures, and finally meeting the new additions to the collection.
Things didn’t go exactly as planned (classic 😅)… the shipment was delayed, I somehow didn’t record part of the unboxing, and one of the little troublemakers even made a break for it. But hey — that’s real life reptile keeping.
We ended up bringing in some absolutely stunning variable kingsnakes (Lampropeltis thayeri) with some insane color variation — from peachy pinks to bold banding. These guys have incredible temperaments right out of the box and wasted no time settling in and eating.

We run a simple but effective quarantine:
Aspen bedding (with adjustments if needed) Humidity hides with moss Water + dry hide Close monitoring for feeding, shedding, and overall health
Quarantine typically runs ~30 days minimum, depending on how the animals are doing.
